A little story

Although I live in Germany only 100 miles away from the Czech borderline, I didn't know anything about Czechoslovakia until I met my wife. I never could imagine to collect Czechoslovak stamps. However, my wife's parents are so-called "Sudetendeutsche" - citizens of German origin in the pre-war Czechoslovakia who had to leave the country after the end of the war. And they had one brother and two sisters still living in the native country. So we often visited our relatives. Once during a visit in Letovice (north of Brno in Moravia), I saw a small album with Czechoslovak pre-war stamps and some from the end of the fourties and the beginning fifties. Till today I don't know, who of our relatives collected these stamps. And because no-one of the relatives had any interest in this little album, I've got it. And this was the starting point of my collection of Czechoslovak stamps (and therefore of this website, too).

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

This is a private, absolutely non-commercial website only for the needs of information of people who deal with Czechoslovak, Czech and Slovak stamps or philately in general. Therefore I reserve the right to decide which address, offer, name or other things will be posted on these pages.

When I started this website 14 years ago, I could not exspect that it would be so successful. But because of private reasons I have to stop now my work on this site. Frequent visitors surely have seen in the past that it has not bee updated already since many months. Nevertheless I will keep this website in this place, because many links which have shown here are still current. But unfortunately I will not be able anymore to update them.

So let me say goodbye to all the visitors. I hope it will be a small help for all collectors of Czech/Slovak stamps despite of the non-update state. All other pages, such as the Stamp Gallery of Czech and Slovak Artists will me maintained for the future, too.
